Help your students respect diversity.
Young children are aware of difference and many come into contact with prejudicial
attitudes at an early age.
Designed for grades 1-3, Different and the Same shows puppet characters
confronting issues of diversity in a school setting. The characters tackle a different
diversity issue aided by multi-ethnic adults, who play a supportive role and help
characters resolve issues based on principles of Fairness, Awareness, Inclusion and
Respect (FAIR).
The story lines, dialogue and teacher’s aids are appropriate for use in Anti-Bias

“When we come to appreciate and value other people, even
those who are very different from us in race or culture, our lives can become
richer and fuller . . . It is up to us adults to open up the lines of communication so
hat children can feel comfortable in asking questions and sharing their feelings. By being
caring listeners and by helping them develop the confidence and vocabulary to talk about
diversity, we also help them to feel better about themselves, about others, and about their world.”
