As people of African descent worldwide prepare to celebrate Kwanzaa
(December 26 - January 1), this new WGBY production captures the meaning and
richness of this festival honoring family, community ties and ancient African
customs. “You are in for a treat,” promises storyteller-educator Onawumi Jean Moss.
She introduces each of The Seven Principles that are at the heart of Kwanzaa,
beginning with umoja or unity. Ceremonies of the seven-day observance are also
recreated.
