These exuberant programs, cooperatively produced at Public Broadcast Stations across the country, demonstrate the joy and enthusiasm that the performance of music can generate among young people. The overall objective of the series is to transmit this enthusiasm to those viewing the programs.
Moreover, the Musical Encounter series aims at bringing together young performers and young audiences- to expose the audiences to the sounds of different musical instruments played by performers their own age and to foster an understanding of the challenges the players of each instrument face.
Singer and actress Florence Henderson hosts some of the programs that, in addition to the young musicians, feature professional musicians in guest appearances.
