Then we visit with mentally challenged young people as they prepare to complete in the 2001 Illinois Winter Special Olympics. Competitors say the best part of the Special Olympics is the fun of competitions, not winning a medial. Parents and coaches are also interviewed as we see Special Olympians practice and complete in skiing, ice skating, hockey, and other sports. This episode stresses how Special Olympians learn sportsmanship and how the young people and their families benefit from competition.
