Theme: Stereotyping

Your students will come to understand the inherent dangers in stereotyping, and that even positive stereotypes can be offensive and inaccurate.

In this episode Audrey convinces Cat-a-lion that Arthur can’t play on their team by saying that “kids who look like him are never any good at baseball.” Arthur is angry and dejected, and talks it over with his P.E. teacher. Mr. Kim explains to the children that such an assumption is stereotyping, and that it can make ople feel invisible and hurt their feelings.

Activities:Explore the ways in which people and things are different and the same, with discussion questions, blocks of different shapes and colors, and exercises where students imagine a world in which everything is the same.

The DVD has chapters, a PDF of the complete Teacher Guide and a Training Video and Guide.
