Working Together

Format : DVD

Doing a job alone can be hard work. This video shows your students:

•Why working together makes sense.
•How insects each have their own job, but work together to build their colonies.
•How people work together to organize and accomplish big projects.

Celia visits her friend Bud who is frantically trying to help customers at four different food-cart stands all by himself. Crinkleroot shows how termites, ants, and bees use the concept of working together to build and sustain their colonies. Your students will see how to set up their own ant farm in a jar and make beeswax candles. At the end of the video, Bud learns the importance of working together. He recruits help from his friends to work at the food carts and, by working together, they serve all the customers quickly and easily.

Teacher’s Guide activities engage your students in:
• Making a Venn diagram to compare ants to bees.
• Learning measurement skills by making honey gingerbread cookies.
• Watching an ant community at work.

Rights granted with the purchase DVD include: a) life of media audiovisual use, b) public performance, c) campus or building closed circuit and digital/video-on-demand transmission.
